Kappa Psi History

Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Incorporated, (ΚΨ) is both the oldest and largest professional pharmaceutical fraternity in the world. It was founded on May 30, 1879, by F. Harvey Smith on the campus of Russell Military Academy in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Central Office of Kappa Psi is located in Richardson, Texas. Kappa Psi first chartered a Chapter at a College of Pharmacy in 1898 at Columbia University. At that time Kappa Psi was a medical and pharmaceutical Fraternity. In 1924, the fraternity split into Kappa Psi and Theta Kappa Psi, the medical fraternity.

Currently, there are 82 active collegiate chapters and 59 graduate chapters across the United States, Canada, and The Bahamas, and over 80,000 people have been initiated into the fraternity since its inception.

Mission Statement

"Striving to Help Brothers around Houston Stay Connected!"

Vision of Houston Graduate Chapter

With the election of our new officers, the Houston Grad Chapter has a vision to unite the brothers in the Houston area. To start, our Graduate officers are fundraising this year in order to sponsor at least 2 socials for the following school year for our brothers in the Houston area. Eventually, this will lead to more gatherings of brothers and networking for all.

In order to accomplish this, we need our grad members to aid in our cause by paying their voluntary dues of $50. By doing so, we have provided you our mission statement.

Our Mission

The Kappa Psi Houston Graduate Chapter is dedicated to supporting Kappa Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc and recognizing that the fraternal experience should continue after graduation. Our chapter will focus its efforts on connecting and enriching members from the past, present, and future. We strive to promote lifelong involvement, uphold the values of F.I.S.H. (Fellow, Industry, Sobriety, and High Ideals), and enhance the long-term success of our fraternity and the profession of pharmacy.

Through the efforts of fundraising, alumni involvement, and our officers, we can make a graduate chapter where we can host gatherings for the families of our brothers to meet and stay connected, network and build professional relationships that will improve our profession, and sponsor professional events that will enhance the professional life of our collegiate and alumni brothers while staying focused and clear minded.
